Welcome our new member:
Blum Institut!

We are happy to welcome our new member, the Blum Institut, to the Green Deal Dataspace!

Get to know the institute and learn more about its mission, vision, and the ideas driving its work:

Blum Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first dedicated AI research institute. They operate two specialised laboratories: the Intelligent Energy Systems Laboratory (IES Lab), which focuses on AI-driven energy grid optimisation, sensor data analytics, and techno-economic analysis, and the Autonomous Systems & Robotics Laboratory (ASR Lab), which focuses on perception, planning, and embedded AI for autonomous systems. Backed by Bloomteq, a company with 100+ software engineers, Blum bridges applied AI research with production-grade technology development.

What is the mission of Blum Institut?

Our mission is to advance AI research and innovation in Bosnia and Herzegovina while building meaningful connections with the broader European research ecosystem. We work across three pillars: Blum × Research (domain-specific AI for energy, robotics, and responsible AI governance), Blum × Industry (technology transfer, startup ecosystem, and global partnerships), and Blum × Community (talent development, with 450+ professionals trained across healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and public services).

Why did you join the Green Deal Dataspace?

We joined GDDS because we believe that open, interoperable data infrastructure is essential for the green transition and that Southeast Europe must be part of this conversation from the start. As an AI research institute working on intelligent energy systems and environmental monitoring, access to shared data spaces directly strengthens the quality and impact of our research.

What interests you most about our community?

What interests us most about the GDDS community is the opportunity to collaborate with leading European institutions on data-driven solutions for climate and sustainability challenges, particularly in energy systems, environmental monitoring, and cross-border data governance. We want to contribute our AI and data analytics capabilities while learning from the ecosystem’s best practices in data sovereignty and interoperability.

What challenges are you hoping to address together?

The key challenge we hope to address together is closing the gap between AI research and real-world green transition outcomes, ensuring that data-driven innovation reaches not only Western European frontrunners but also emerging research ecosystems in the Western Balkans and beyond.

We are pleased to welcome new members who share our commitment to collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development. Together, we look forward to exchanging ideas and exploring new opportunities within the network.
