Supply chains under pressure – Why the Supply Chain Radar in the ScaleTrust project could be a turning point

Supply chain risks are no longer a side issue. Extreme weather, geopolitical tensions, and strikes can disrupt even well-run procurement operations. Small and medium-sized enterprises often face a particular challenge: they usually do not have a dedicated risk management team. This is where the Supply Chain Radar (SCR) comes in. We at Advaneo developed it and are refining it further in the ScaleTrust project.

Challenge: Making complexity manageable

An SME needs more than just awareness of risks. It needs clear, actionable steps. Traditional solutions either provide incomplete data or require costly IT systems and specialized staff. The SCR addresses this gap. It collects crisis events, inventory and bottleneck data, supplier details, and macroeconomic indicators. It then applies AI-based analysis and generates recommendations at the push of a button.

Innovation: Trusted data spaces instead of data silos

The novelty is not only in combining data aggregation, evaluation, and recommendations. The real leap is integrating trusted Data Spaces within the ScaleTrust project. Green Deal Dataspace e.V. provides the Data Space technology, and the SCR use case serves as a blueprint for a range of applications and services.

As the data trustee and operator of the Green Deal Dataspace, Advaneo enables companies to share risk data legally and securely, without revealing trade secrets. Standardized interfaces reduce integration work. No in-house IT infrastructure is required.

Practical benefits: Real-time decisions

Procurement teams can secure alternative sources. Controllers can assess cost impacts within seconds. Executives gain a 360-degree view to support strategic decisions. Workshops with SMEs have shown that tailored visualizations and straightforward recommendations are key to adoption.

Outcome: The SCR demonstrator in ScaleTrust

Within ScaleTrust, we are developing the SCR demonstrator along with service marketplace tools. CO₂ reports, ESG compliance documentation, and certificate verification can also run on the same scalable architecture.

Looking ahead

Advaneo leads ScaleTrust as consortium coordinator. In our view, using the SCR is not just about increasing resilience. It is also a step toward participating in the future data economy. Companies willing to share and use data in a trusted way will have access to global supply chain networks and sustainable business models.

ScaleTrust turns forward-looking data governance into practical operational excellence. The Supply Chain Radar is the clearest example. SMEs are invited to join as pilot companies and help shape the blueprint for resilient, transparent, and sustainable supply chains.
