On September 13, seven companies / organizations came together in Düsseldorf to found the Green Deal Dataspace e. V..

The association creates IDSA-based and GAIA-X-compliant #dataspaces for sovereign data exchange as enablers for new services that serve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and lead to an ecologically sound, sustainable society.

Together with 1001 Lakes Oy, Advaneo GmbH, Funk Gruppe GmbH, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Innovalia Association and UNITY Consulting & Innovation, the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) is one of the founding members of this international association.

Green Deal Dataspace – data sharing for resilient and sustainable business growth

The frequency of global crises has increased, and reasons for interrupted supply chains are many. Data sharing is key for dampening effects of such crisis and needs to be more sustainable and resilient.

The Green Deal Dataspace enables transparency in supply chains by identifying crises and their effects. However, finding and using data in a sovereign way remains a core challenge: How do supply chain participants find services to become more resilient, but also ensure data privacy and data sovereignty at the same time? How do the creators of such services find initial partners to build supply chain networks?

As a unified system, the Green Deal Dataspace enables offering, finding and accessing relevant data sources and services related to resilience and sustainability.

And the IDS standard, its architecture, and connectors are core technologies enabling sovereign data sharing in the Green Deal Dataspace.

Companies and organizations as Green Deal Dataspace users benefit from this approach. With its infrastructure, users are either able to apply implemented services or to develop new services supporting users in order to gain new insights and knowledge. In the Data Spaces Dialogue, the creators of the Green Deal Dataspace will introduce its concept and explain how users benefit – and explain why it is also worthwhile for other companies and organizations to participate.

Hackathon for supply chain resilience and disaster management.

From 23.06. to 25.06.2022, the two R&D projects SPELL & PAIRS invite you to a hackathon in Hannover. The event will take place within the scope of Interschutz 2022 and thus provides the perfect basis for challenges on the topics of resilience, sustainability and population protection.

Managing complex crises and emergencies goes hand in hand with managing a flood of information. A wide variety of data is available from a large number of sources, which are combined in a semantic platform in SPELL and can be used to assess the situation. Support can then be provided by specialized AI services, which are used on the platform for evaluations and for implementing specific subtasks.

The challenge here is fundamentally concerned with the question of how so-called “knowledge computing” can be used to better manage disaster situations.

Similar topics are also of interest in the PAIRS (Privacy-Aware, Intelligent and Resilient crisiS management) research project when it comes to supply chains, for example. Corona and Ukraine have caused supply bottlenecks virtually around the world, and completely new ways of thinking are needed to manage them. PAIRS is looking for solutions, supported by data and AI, to make supply chains robustly resilient and sustainable. The main aim is to anticipate crises at an early stage and generate individual recommendations for action. The hackathon is intended to provide suggestions and ways to achieve this objective as precisely as possible.

The Hackathon offers prize money of up to € 5000.
